Affordable Makeup for Beginners

So by now I’m sure you can tell that I am a die hard lover of all things makeup and I love me a good high end product, but I have to say that the drugstore brands have been killing it within the last couple of years. The competition is real and these brands have been stepping it up with the quality. That being said, it’s great to finally find more affordable products that are just as great as the high end stuff. If you are new to makeup, are just starting out, or simply just want some great affordable recommendations that are some of my favorites, then keep on reading.

ColourPop x KathleenLights Eyeshadow palette– I feel like you don’t really hear a whole lot about really great eyeshadow palettes from the drugstore. That’s where Morphe and ColourPop come in. In particular, ColourPop since they release a new palette every 20 minutes. I love their super shock eye shadow singles to give your eyes a pop, but after I purchased the eyeshadow palette they created with Kathleen Lights (love her), I have to say that it instantly became a favorite and it’s only $16. The pigment is beautiful, the colors are beautiful and the packaging is adorable. You get your neutral eyeshadow colors with a few pops of color which makes this super easy to use and even better to travel with.

Physicians Formula The Healthy Foundation– This is actually a recent purchase, but a new favorite nonetheless. I tested out the PF foundation and absolutely loved it! It goes on so smooth and gives an airbrushed look to the skin. It’s such a beautiful foundation for the price.

Catrice Liquid Camouflage Concealer– This is a great drugstore concealer which gives plenty of coverage especially for the price! The only downside is that there are literally only four shades to choose from so hopefully they’ll expand their range more.

Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer– OMG this is such a beautiful bronzer and the smell is to die for! I know everyone raves about it and they have every right to because it’s really great! (It’s the bottom swatch on my hand in the picture above).

Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso– In general, Milani kills it with their blushes. The shade Luminoso is my favorite. It’s pinky peach with a golden sheen that makes the skin glow. (Third swatch on my hand).

Milani Make It Last Setting Spray– This is such a great setting spray and really works well at making makeup last. Not to mention it smells good which is always a plus.

Wet n Wild MegaGlo Highlight– This is a great drugstore highlight and gives an amazing glow from within look. It’s not super beaming, but if you like a subtle glow, I’d pick this up for sure. (My favorite is the shade, Golden Flower Crown, which is the second swatch on my hand).

ColourPop Super Shock Highlighter– Now for all my glow-getters out there, this one is for you. I was SHOOK when I swatched this beauty. Drop what you are doing and go to Ulta and pick up the shade Flexitarian by ColourPop. This baby is BEAMING. It has a champagne/pearl color to it and is gorgeous! (It’s the first swatch on my hand).

Maybelline Lipstick– Maybelline makes the best lipsticks from the drugstore in my opinion and my latest obsession has been the shade ‘Baddest Beige’. It’s part of their newer color sensational shine compulsion collection. I was worried when I saw the word ‘beige’ because I’m pale and brown/beige looks horrendous on my lips, but I purchased this shade after seeing quite a few recomendations. First of all, it’s not really beige, more pink with a slight hint of beige. Secondly, it’s not completely matte looking. It has a sheen to it which actually makes it look more like a gloss. It’s my new favorite because of how wearable it is. It’s a great nude lipstick option for sure.

L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer– So when I originally tried this I was taken completely off guard by how amazing it would be. I thought nothing would ever replace by Anastasia Brow Wiz, but boy was I mistaken. This is pretty much an exact dupe for it and half the cost!

Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Eyeliner– If you’re looking for a super black eyeliner, look no further. This is my personal favorite from the drugstore. It’s super easy to use and lasts all day long.

L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara– Last, but certainly not least, my most used and loved product from the drugstore. This mascara is sooo bomb! I’ve probably gone through about five tubes of it because it’s THAT GOOD. It does everything-lengthens and volumizes and it’s super black. It’s definitely in my top three favorite mascara’s.
